SEVEN CHILDREN WOUNDED IN INTERNAL EXPLOSION

Gaza, 29 Jumadil Awwal 1435/30 March 2014 (MINA) – Seven Palestinian minors have been wounded in an explosion in Tal al-Sultan district to the west of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.

Ashraf al-Qedra, the health ministry spokesman, said in a statement that seven children were injured, including one seriously, in a mysterious explosion in Rafah.

The ages of the children are between 10 and 13, he said.  Policemen arrived at the scene to investigate the incident, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Two children killed, four injured in fire caused by candle

Two children died and four others wounded in a candle fire broke out in their home in Rafah, southern the Gaza Strip.

The families of Gaza seek other means of lighting because of the ongoing electricity outage which up to 12 hours a day.

ALRAY correspondent reported that Malak Sheikh al-Eid,2, and Ghena Sheikh al-Eid, a year and a half, died immediately and arrived at the hospital charred bodies, while the other four members of the family sustained moderate and severe injuries.

He added that the mother sustained light injuries, the father and his daughter with moderate injuries while the other daughter was seriously wounded.

They  were transferred to Nasr Medical Complex in Khanyounis.

Civil Defense rescue crews were able to extinguish the fire. Intervention forces arrived at the place of the accident , imposed security and facilitated the rescue crew’s mission.

Ministry of Health blamed the international community and the Arab Summit, stressing that the death of the two children is added to the invoice that our besieged people paid every day.

Same incidents happened in Gaza on a daily basis. The people of Gaza are obliged to use candles for illumination due to the continuous power cut caused by the siege imposed by the Israeli occupation since 2006. (T/P04/E01)
