Palestinian, US Officials Meet to Revive Peace Process

Ramallah, 18 Shawwal 1438/12 July 2017 (MINA) – Palestinian and US officials met on Tuesday in occupied Jerusalem to tackle ways of reviving the peace process and negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis.

According to Palestinian news agency (WAFA) the meeting included PLO Secretary for the Executive Committee Saeb Erekat, Director of the Palestinian Intelligence Apparatus Major General Majed Faraj, Head of the Palestinian Investment Fund Mohammad Mustafa, US Envoy for the Peace Process Jason Greenblatt, US Ambassador David Friedman, US Consul General to Jerusalem Donald Bloom.

During the meeting, the Palestinian side called for freezing all Jewish settlement activities in Palestinian lands, prior to any attempts for starting the negotiation process.

The Palestinian side also called on ending Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Greenblatt started on Monday a new tour in the Middle East and held talks with both Israeli and Palestinian officials as part of his mission to revive the stalled peace talks between the two sides.

The last peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians had stopped in April 2014. . (T/RS5/RS1)
