PALESTINIAN FEMALE PRISONERS RETURN MEALS

       Ramallah, 23 Rajab 1434/2 June 2013 (MINA) – Palestinian female prisoners in the Israeli Hasharon jail returned their meals on Saturday in protest at the prison administration’s deliberate medical neglect.

       Prisoner Mona Qadan told lawyer Amer Abu Hamdiya on Saturday that the prisoners were protesting the administration’s neglect of the health condition of their colleague Leena Jarboni, 34, Palestinian Information Center reported as monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

      Qadan said that Jarboni’s health condition was steadily worsening and was in need of an urgent surgery due to acute pain in her gallbladder.

      Qadan Asserted the prisoners would escalate their protest if the prison administration did not extend urgent medical assistance to Jarboni, who is serving an 18-year sentence.

      She added that Jarboni was suffering from other health problems such as constant headache and swelling in her feet.

      Previously, Israel  soldiers arrested a 17-year-old Palestinian girl, Abu Hadeel Turkey which is also mentioned as a youngest Palestinian woman prisoners in Israeli jails.

      Hadeel was arrested on February 21, 2009 with his sister Jihad at the Ibrahimi Mosque. Israeli army claimed the Um Fuad’s daughter brought a sharp tool. Hadeel  was 14 and her sister 15.

        Her sister, Jihad, was sentenced to 15 months in prison. Hadeel placed Kariat Arba colony for investigation, imprisoned in solitary confinement for a month with a payment guarantee of 5000 shekels, Ahrar reported.(T/P03/E1)
