NUMBER OF PALESTINIAN REFUGEES IN JORDAN INCREASING

Gaza, 15 Dzulqai’dah 1434/20 September 2013 (MINA)  –  The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Thursday that 8,833 Palestinian refugees have fled the camps in Syria and are now living in Jordan.

UNRWA announced this number in a statement published on its website, but an employee working at the agency doubted the figure, according to Middle East Monitor (MEMO) report quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

The employee, who preferred to stay anonymous, told United Press International that the number of Palestinian refugees in Jordan is greater.

High Commissioner of UNRWA Filippo Grandi announced last month that he was discussing the issue of Palestinian refugees in Jordan with the Jordanian Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh.
