Tel Aviv, MINA – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned about Egypt’s growing military strength while rejecting any personal responsibility for the October 7, 2023 attack.
Speaking in a closed session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Netanyahu cautioned lawmakers about the increasing power of Egypt’s armed forces.
According to Israeli media, he stated, “The power of the Egyptian army is growing, and we must monitor the matter. We have relations with Egypt, but we must prevent any excessive increase in power.”
These remarks come amid deepening cooperation between Egypt and Türkiye following high-level meetings between President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Retired Israeli Brigadier General Amir Avivi also warned that Israel should prepare for a potential two-front confrontation against “two regular armies at the same time.”
During the same committee meeting, Netanyahu again rejected personal accountability for the October 7 attack, calling it a “serious intelligence failure, but there was no betrayal.”
He claimed that a critical warning document from the Shin Bet reached his office over four hours late and that an instruction to notify the prime minister was added retroactively.[]
