Beirut, MINA – Lebanon’s Hezbollah group announced on Thursday that it had carried out six drone and missile attacks targeting military installations in northern Israel, as well as Israeli forces positioned inside southern Lebanon, marking a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities, Anadolu Agency reports.

In a series of statements, the Iran-backed group detailed multiple operations along the tense border. Hezbollah fighters targeted a concentration of Israeli troops with rockets at the Talat al-Ajl site, north of the Kfar Yuval settlement, and struck the Ya’ra military barracks in northern Israel.

The group also reported hitting Israeli soldiers with a guided missile at the Blat border military post inside southern Lebanon. Two separate rocket barrages were fired at Israeli forces advancing from the Manara site toward the town of Markaba in southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah claiming the attacks inflicted casualties.

Additional rocket attacks targeted the Rafael military industries complex south of Acre in northwestern Israel, as well as military positions in the Galilee region.

The attacks come as the Israeli army has mounted a relentless series of airstrikes across Lebanon since Monday, killing more than 70 people and wounding over 600 others. The Israeli bombardment is in response to previous cross-border attacks by Hezbollah, which says it is acting in solidarity with its allies.

The current escalation is intrinsically linked to the wider regional confrontation sparked by the joint Israeli-US offensive against Iran that began on Saturday. That campaign has killed more than 900 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top military commanders. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries hosting US military assets.

Thursday’s violence represents a major unraveling of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, signed in November 2024. Since its signing, Israel has carried out near-daily strikes inside Lebanon, gradually eroding the truce and leaving hundreds dead or wounded.[]
