ISRAELI SPECIAL UNIT BREAKS INTO ESHEL AND OFER PRISONS
Ramallah, 13 Rabi’ul Akhir 1436/3 February 2015 (MINA) – Israeli Special Unit “Nahshon” stormed Palestinian prisoners’ rooms in Eshel and Ofer prisons after brutally attacking them.
Lawyer for prisoners’ affairs authority Rami al-Almi quoted prisoners held in Eshel jail as confirming that a large Israeli force of Nahshon unit stormed late at Monday night section 11 and severely beat them while being transferred handcuffed to other cells.
The life-sentenced prisoner Khalid Abu Hanoud told the lawyer that sick prisoners were among those subjected to the brutal attack, pointing out that a violent search operation was carried out in the meantime, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Nahshon unit, the main IPS unit for transferring prisoners between prison facilities and the courts, savagely assaulted three Jerusalemite prisoners held in Eshel prison.
On the other hand, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said that a state of tension has prevailed Monday morning in Ofer prison as Israeli forces stormed and violently searched the prisoners’ rooms.
A search operation lasted for more than two hours was carried out in section 14 of Ofer jail where 128 Palestinian detainees are held, according to the PPS statement.
Nahshon is one of the IPS’ main intervention units specialized in violent inspections and used to suppress Palestinian prisoners. (T/P011/P3)
