Jerusalem, MINA – Israeli forces early Monday raided and vandalized al-Mujahdeen Graveyard in Salah al Din Street in the city of Jerusalem, according to Wafa correspondent.

He said that Israeli forces raided the graveyard and broke the locks of its main gate before attacking a number of tombstones and monuments of Palestinians slain by Israeli forces, Wafa News Agency reported.

Mohammad Elian, an attorney whose son, Baha, was killed by Israel, said that Israeli authorities removed all names of the slain Palestinians off the stones although they had required that slain Palestinians be laid to rest in this particular graveyard.

Over a year ago, Palestinians in Jerusalem had inscribed the names of slain Palestinians on a plaque at the front walls of the cemetery and installed a flagpole for the Palestinian flag. The flag was immediately removed by Israel, according to Elian.

According to an eyewitness, Israeli soldiers were seen taking photographs of the graveyard only a day before.

To be noted, a number of Palestinians who were killed by Israel were recently laid to rest in the said graveyard after Israeli authorities released their bodies.

Saladin Street residents condemned Israel’s attack on the graveyard and considered it an action of revenge.(R/R04/RS5)
