ISRAELI JETS ATTACK CENTRAL GAZA STRIP
Gaza Strip, 13 Dhulqa’dah 1436/28 August 2015 (MINA) – Israeli fighter jets have conducted airstrikes against an area in the besieged Gaza Strip following a claim by the Israeli military that a rocket was fired from the Palestinian enclave toward Israel.
Palestinian officials have not commented on the Israeli claim and the airstrikes, yet.
According to reports, the targeted site was in the central part of the coastal territory.
There were no immediate reports about possible casualties or damage from the airstrikes, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
The Israeli army claimed that the raid was carried out a few hours after a rocket fired from the Palestinian coastal sliver hit an open field in the Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel. No injuries or damages were reported from the alleged Palestinian rocket fire.
Last year, Israel launched 50 days of military attacks against the Gaza Strip. The war started in early July last year and ended on August 26, 2014 with a truce that took effect after indirect negotiations in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
Nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children, were killed in the 2014 Israeli onslaught. Over 11,100 others – including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people – were also injured. (T/P001/R04)
