Negev, 27 Rabi’ul Awwal 1437/7 January 2016 (MINA) – The Israeli municipality bulldozers destroyed a mosque Wednesday morning in the unrecognized Bedouin village of Rakhamah in the Negev desert south of 1948 Palestine.

Large numbers of Israeli soldiers deployed in the area and prevented people’s access to the mosque before starting to demolish it, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Arab MK Abu Arar strongly slammed the Israeli demolition of the mosque, warning that dozens of mosques are also threatened with demolition in the Negev.

He told Quds Press that the unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev are only inhibited by Muslims who have the right to practice their religion freely and maintain their places of worship.

The demolition of the Rakhamah mosque came in line with the religious war Israel has been igniting in the region, Abu Arar charged.

Hundreds of Palestinian towns and mosques were demolished since the establishment of the Israeli state, he pointed out.

Israeli authorities are exerting pressure on the Arab population of the Negev in their attempt to empty the land of Arabs and to displace them, in order to build settlement blocs on the ruins of Arab villages.

Palestinian sources pointed out that three other mosques were recently demolished in the Negev.

The High follow-up Committee of the Arabs of the Negev strongly condemned the Israeli action and called for mass protests throughout the region in rejection of the Israeli demolition policy.(T/P008/R03)
