Al Khalil, MINA – The Israeli occupation army displaced a Palestinian family after demolishing its apartment building in al-Khalil in the southern West Bank on Wednesday morning, PIC reports.
According to Palestinian media sources, Israeli forces stormed the Harayek area of al-Khalil City, adjacent to the illegal Haggai settlement, and used bulldozers to demolish an apartment building belonging to the Salhab family.
Israeli forces reportedly compelled members of the Salhab family to evacuate their homes in a residential complex consisting of two adjoining buildings. The first building was three stories high and contained six apartments, while the second had two floors with four apartments. Together, the complex housed more than 40 people.
The demolition proceeded despite the family holding all the documents and legal papers, including a land deed (Tabu), proving their ownership of the property. They had already filed a formal objection to the demolition orders with an Israeli court.

In southern Jerusalem, the Israeli municipality forced the family of Ahmed Khader to demolish its own house on Monday in Sur Baher town under the pretext of unlicensed construction.
The Jerusalem Governorate explained that the family carried out the demolition ahead of the deadline set by the municipality to avoid paying a fine of nearly 80,000 shekels if it had not complied with the demolition notice it had received recently.
A family of three lived in the house, which had been built about 10 years ago.
The Israeli army also demolished yesterday a Palestinian house in al-Khader town, southwest of Bethlehem, claiming it was built with no permit.

In a related context, the Hamas Movement has condemned the Israeli occupation’s escalation of its home demolitions in the West Bank, saying such a policy is “part of its systematic targeting of the Palestinian people’s existence on their land.”
In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas pointed out that the latest demolition happened today in al-Khalil, targeting an apartment building.
Hamas stressed that such an aggressive Israeli policy would only strengthen the Palestinian people’s attachment to their homeland and would not succeed in uprooting them from it.[]
