Gaza, MINA – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz pledged on Wednesday to sustain military operations in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen, despite regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Speaking during a training course for Israeli Air Force pilots, Katz stated that Israel “will continue its operations in Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip and Yemen.” He specified that Israel would apply “maximum force against Hezbollah” in Lebanon, maintain its presence on Mount Hermon and the security zone in Syria, remain committed to “dismantling Hamas and disarming the territory” in Gaza, and continue operations in Yemen to prevent the Houthis from strengthening their capabilities.
Katz also addressed Israel’s conflict with Iran, claiming that Israel, in cooperation with American partners, had inflicted “significant damage on Iran’s nuclear and strategic capabilities.”
The Israeli military’s offensive in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has resulted in over 71,000 fatalities and more than 171,000 injuries, according to Palestinian sources. The war has heightened regional tensions, leading to clashes with Hezbollah along Israel’s northern border and exchanges with Yemen’s Houthi group. A brief 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June was halted under a US-sponsored ceasefire.
