Israel Revokes Entry Permits Of Gaza Civil Affairs Employees

Gaza, 17 Muharram 1438/18 October 2016 (MINA) – The Palestinian Authority (PA) general authority of civil affairs has said that the Israeli authorities cancelled entry permits for some of its senior employees in the Gaza Strip, condemning the measure as politically motivated.

”Spokesman for the general authority Mohamed al-Makadmeh stated in a press release that entry permits of 12 PA employees, who are responsible for coordinating civil affairs with the Israeli side in Gaza, were invalidated, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

According to Makadmeh, those employees were in charge of coordinating with the Israeli authorities the passage of different goods and individuals, especially patients, from Gaza to the occupied West Bank, and vice versa.

The civil affairs official rejected Israel’s claim that the permits were revoked for security reasons, expressing his belief that the measure was politicized and part of Israel’s ongoing movement restrictions on the Palestinians.

He noted that those employees were working in this field for several years in compliance with the PA and the ministry of civil affairs in Ramallah.(T/P008/R03)
