Gaza, MINA – The Israeli occupation military reported on Friday that it killed three Palestinians in the southern Gaza city of Rafah after detecting eight individuals exiting an underground tunnel. The airstrike was carried out under guidance from the Gaza Division’s 143rd Brigade, according to the army, Anadolu Agency reported.
Unit 414 identified the group overnight in eastern Rafah, and the air force targeted them, killing three. The remaining individuals attempted to flee, prompting further Israeli operations in the area, which continue to search for the others.
The incident comes amid near-daily Israeli violations of the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025, including shelling and gunfire that have already killed 492 Palestinians and wounded 1,356 others.
Witnesses reported that an Israeli drone also targeted a civilian gathering near the Abu Namous roundabout east of Maghazi early Friday, killing two men in an area supposedly under the ceasefire.

Israeli military vehicles and helicopters additionally opened heavy fire east of Khan Younis, and fighter jets carried out multiple airstrikes in areas under Israeli control in Rafah, while gunfire struck the western parts of the city.
The issue of Palestinians trapped in tunnels beneath Rafah remains unresolved. Hamas said in late 2025 that it had held talks with mediators to allow about 200 Qassam Brigades fighters to exit a tunnel safely, but Israel did not respond.
Despite developments in the Gaza ceasefire, including a US announcement that the second phase would begin in mid-January, the matter remains stalled. Hamas has not yet commented on the Israeli statement.[]
