Al-Quds, MINA – Concerns are rising over the situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) after Israel occupation authorities continued to close the holy site for the fifth consecutive day on Wednesday under emergency regulations, preventing Muslim worshippers from entering the compound during the holy month of Ramadan.
Palestinian officials and observers warned that the continued closure, which Israeli occupation authorities justify as part of emergency measures amid regional tensions, could be used to impose a new reality at the site and further restrict Muslim access to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli police have barred worshippers from reaching the Al-Aqsa compound and prevented them from performing the Maghrib, Isha, and Tarawih prayers, while Israeli authorities claim the measure is intended to protect the complex.
Observers believe Israel may be attempting to take advantage of the broader regional crisis, particularly the confrontation involving Israel, the United States, and Iran to advance policies aimed at emptying the mosque of Palestinian worshippers and paving the way for settlement expansion and Judaization plans in Jerusalem.

The Hamas movement described the continued closure of Al-Aqsa as a blatant attack on freedom of worship, stating that it is part of a broader plan to impose full Israeli control over the mosque and create a new reality under the pretext of emergency measures.
Hamas warned Israeli leaders against escalating such policies, stressing that attempts to empty the mosque ahead of possible incursions would face resistance from Palestinians determined to protect the holy site.[]
