Tehran, MINA – A senior Iranian general, Majid Khademi, has reportedly been killed in an attack linked to the United States and Israel, marking a significant escalation in the intensifying conflict in the Middle East.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that Khademi died in an airstrike that occurred early Monday. In its official statement, the IRGC described the strike as a “criminal act” carried out by American and Zionist enemies, Tasnim reported.

Khademi had served as head of the IRGC’s intelligence organization since 2025, replacing his predecessor who was also killed in a previous attack. He was known as a key figure in Iran’s security and intelligence system, playing a strategic role in addressing external threats.

Several reports indicate that the strike that killed Khademi was part of a broader wave of attacks targeting multiple locations across Iran, including areas around the capital, Tehran. The attacks were also reported to have caused additional casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Khademi’s death adds to the growing list of senior Iranian officials killed since tensions with the United States and Israel escalated in early 2026. Previously, several military commanders and other key figures were also reported killed in similar attacks, highlighting the increasing intensity of the conflict.

The killing of a high-ranking intelligence official like Khademi could have a major impact on Iran’s security structure and may trigger broader retaliatory responses. This situation risks further destabilizing the region and increasing the likelihood of a wider open conflict in the Middle East.[]
