Tel Aviv, MINA – Waves of explosions rocked northern Israel on Saturday after Tehran launched ballistic missile strikes in retaliation for the joint Israeli-American attack hours earlier, Israeli media reported.

The explosions, which were heard as far as the city of Holon, were accompanied by a fire in a bus fleet parked on one of the main thoroughfares, according to international media reports. Black smoke billowed from the bus parking lot in southern Holon, near Tel Aviv, as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze that engulfed several public vehicles.

No official reports of casualties have been released yet, but the incident has raised concerns about the expanding impact of missile strikes on civilian infrastructure.

The Israeli military confirmed that several Iranian ballistic missiles crossed the airspace of the northern country after air defense systems were activated to intercept incoming threats. Air raid sirens sounded in various areas of Israel as a warning signal for residents to seek shelter immediately.

The attack constitutes Tehran’s response to the joint Israeli-American operation launched earlier the same day. The Israeli government, together with the Pentagon, launched air and sea operations against several military targets in Iran in what was described as an effort to halt threats to Israel’s national security and its allies.

Meanwhile, an Iranian military spokesman stated that the launched missiles were a direct retaliation for the attack on their territory, which Tehran said violated its sovereignty and endangered regional stability. Iran also warned that it is prepared to continue strikes if military pressure persists.

The situation has sparked new tensions amid international diplomatic efforts that had previously sought to contain the escalation of conflict between Tehran and Western countries. The Iranian missile strikes on northern Israeli territory and their impact on civilian facilities add complexity to the crisis that has persisted between the two countries in recent years.

Armed tensions between Iran and Israel have been ongoing for several years, including exchanges of airstrikes, ballistic missiles, and drones during the 2024-2025 conflict known as the Iran-Israel war. On June 13, 2025, Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones against Israel in response to Tel Aviv’s airstrike on Tehran’s nuclear facilities, causing dozens of casualties and damage in several Israeli cities.

Israel’s air defense systems, such as the Iron Dome, are frequently used to repel such missiles, although some have managed to hit certain parts of civilian and military areas.[]
