Tehran, MINA – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned the US plan to intervene in the Strait of Hormuz under the so-called “Project Freedom,” warning that the initiative would only deepen tensions and drag Washington into another regional quagmire, according to Tasnim News Agency.

In a message posted on his X account on Tuesday, Araqchi said recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz demonstrate that there is no military solution to a political crisis.

“Events in Hormuz make clear that there’s no military solution to a political crisis,” the Iranian foreign minister said. “As talks are making progress with Pakistan’s gracious effort, the US should be wary of being dragged back into quagmire by ill-wishers. So should the UAE.” He added, “Project Freedom is Project Deadlock.”

On Monday, Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi warned that any foreign military force, particularly the US, will come under attack if it tries to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz.

“We will preserve and firmly manage the security of the Strait of Hormuz with full capability,” the top general said, advising all commercial vessels and oil tankers not to try passing through without coordinating with Iranian forces.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, during which then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials were martyred.

Iranian forces responded with weeks of missile and drone strikes, launching 100 waves of counterattacks over 40 days.

Iran also closed the Strait of Hormuz to enemy vessels and later required all ships to get permission before passing, especially after the US announced a blockade on Iranian vessels and ports.[]
