Tehran, MINA – Iran has strongly criticized the United Arab Emirates for what it calls cooperation with “hostile parties” and warned that such actions could threaten stability in the region.

In an official statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused Abu Dhabi of allowing US and Israeli military forces to operate from its soil. It said these actions pose a direct threat to Iran’s national security and the broader regional peace.

The ministry also dismissed accusations from the UAE that Iran had carried out missile or drone attacks against the country, calling the claims completely “unfounded.”

According to the statement, any defensive actions taken by Iran recently were only meant to counter US activities in the region, not to target the UAE.

Iran urged its neighbor to stay away from hostile actors and reaffirmed its commitment to international law and maintaining good relations with neighboring countries. However, it also made clear that Iran reserves the right to take necessary steps to protect its own security and national interests.

Earlier, Iran’s armed forces had already denied launching any missile or drone attacks against the UAE in recent days. State media IRIB quoted a spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters as saying that no such operations had taken place. If they had, the spokesman added, they would have been “clearly and officially announced.”

The spokesman also rejected the UAE Defense Ministry’s accusations as “baseless” and issued a warning: if any attack against Iran is launched from UAE territory, Tehran will respond with a “decisive and regret-inducing” retaliation.

These latest exchanges come amid rising tensions in the Gulf region. For two days in a row, there have been reported strikes targeting the UAE. Authorities there have claimed their air defenses intercepted waves of missiles and drones coming from Iran, with one earlier attack causing a major fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone.

Tensions have been high ever since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran back on February 28, which prompted retaliation from Tehran and disruptions in the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire was brokered by Pakistan on April 8, but talks in Islamabad failed to reach a lasting deal. The truce was later extended by US President Donald Trump with no fixed deadline. Meanwhile, since April 13, the US has enforced a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.[]
