Tehran, MINA – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stark warning to the United States, declaring that Tehran is fully prepared for and even “waiting” for a potential US ground invasion, which he predicts would result in a “big disaster” for American forces.
In a video interview with NBC News reported on Thursday, Araghchi projected confidence in Iran’s defensive capabilities.
“No, we are waiting for them,” he stated when asked about the prospect of a ground incursion. “Because we are confident that we can confront them, and that would be a big disaster for them.”
His defiant remarks come amidst a sustained campaign of US-Israeli strikes against Iran that began on February 28, which have resulted in the deaths of top officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Despite the intensity of the attacks, Araghchi emphasized that Iran has not and will not seek a cessation of hostilities. “We didn’t ask for a ceasefire even last time,” he said, referring to a 12-day conflict last June.
The Foreign Minister also addressed the devastating attack on an elementary school in the city of Minab, which he stated killed 171 school girls.
He placed the responsibility squarely on the US and Israeli militaries, dismissing attempts to differentiate between the two.
This comes as the US Pentagon says it is “investigating” the strike and the White House denies involvement, with spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt blaming the “rogue Iranian regime.”

While maintaining a bellicose tone regarding Iran’s readiness, Araghchi offered a more somber view of the conflict’s overall trajectory. “There is no winner in this war,” he concluded. “Our win is to be able to resist.”[]
