Tehran, MINA – The death toll from the ongoing US-Israeli military strikes on Iran has climbed to 867, with nearly 6,000 injured, according to an updated casualty count released by Iranian authorities on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reports.
Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour confirmed the new figures in statements carried by the Iranian Labour News Agency. “Of the 5,946 injured, 2,184 are still receiving treatment in various hospitals,” Kermanpour said.
The updated toll comes as the US-Israeli campaign against Iran continues, with smoke seen rising from the area near Piruzi Street in the capital, Tehran, following recent attacks.
Regional tensions have escalated dramatically since Saturday, when the US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran. The offensive has killed several top Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
