Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian government has issued an appeal to all Indonesian citizens to postpone travel plans to the Middle East due to escalating security tensions.

This appeal was issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of citizens abroad.

In an official statement from the diplomatic institution, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the public, especially those planning to transit or visit countries in the region, to reconsider their travel plans and postpone them until the situation is more conducive.

This measure is motivated by the escalation of tensions between major world powers, which has impacted security stability in several countries.

The government also specifically appealed to Indonesian citizens currently residing in the Middle East to remain calm, increase vigilance, and comply with the directions of local authorities. Intensive communication between the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian representatives in the region continues to monitor developments.

In line with this appeal, several Indonesian diplomatic missions, such as the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh and the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, have also conveyed messages to Indonesian citizens to remain cautious, avoid vulnerable areas, and always follow official information from the government and local authorities.

Emergency hotlines have been set up at several representative offices to be contacted if needed.

The government is not only issuing general travel advice but also urging prospective Umrah pilgrims scheduled to depart soon to postpone their departures for safety reasons.

The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah emphasized that this decision is part of an effort to protect pilgrims amidst the uncertain situation in the Holy Land.

The advisory to postpone travel to the Middle East comes amid the escalating military conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, which has disrupted regional flight operations and increased security risks.

This situation impacts not only public safety but also flight and consular operations for all countries with diplomatic relations and citizens in the region.

Several other countries, including Norway, Australia, and the United Kingdom, have also issued travel advisories or warnings for their citizens in the region. []
