Indonesia Records 13 Percent Foreign Tourist Visits Growth in August

Jakarta, 03 Muharram 1438/04 October 2016 (MINA) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Indonesia in August has risen to 1.03 million, 13.19 percent up compared to the same period last year, a senior official said on Monday.

Total number of foreign tourist arrivals has increased to 7.36 million in August, 8.39 percent up compared to the same period last year, Xinhua quote Head of Indonesia’s Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) Suharyanto as telling a press conference in his office.

According to Suharyanto, tourists from China, Australia and Singapore contributed the most to the nation’s increasing foreign tourist visit figures throughout August this year.

Indonesia expects 12 million foreign tourist visits this year.

Indonesia only managed to welcome 9.73 million foreign tourists in 2015, hence failing to achieve the government target at 10 million foreign tourist arrivals. (T/R07/R01)
