Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian National Police have named three senior officers as suspects in an wiretapping/">illegal wiretapping case that targeted the phone number of President Prabowo Subianto, among others, and detained them at the National Police Headquarters detention center, authorities announced Tuesday evening.

The suspects are identified by their initials as LSP, ASN, and EH. LSP is General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the former National Police chief who currently serves as Head of the Presidential Staff Office. ASN is Inspector General Ahrie Sonta Nasution, head of the National Police Legal Division, and EH is Inspector General Eko Hadi Santoso, a senior instructor at the Police Education and Training Institute. A fourth individual, identified as SU, is still being questioned as a witness.

“Based on the investigation results, investigators have named three suspects with the initials LSP, ASN, and EH,” said Criminal Investigation Department chief Commissioner General Asep Safrudin at a press conference at National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

Asep said the wiretapping targeted not only the President but also state officials, political figures, media figures, mass organization leaders, non-governmental organizations, and businesspeople. The alleged offenses occurred between 2025 and 2026.

The suspects allegedly ordered the wiretapping without following proper procedures under National Police Regulation No. 5 of 2010. Phone numbers were reportedly entered into the Law Interception Management System server without verification. Asep stated the wiretapping was not connected to any law enforcement purpose, whether at the investigation or inquiry stage.

Besides wiretapping/">illegal wiretapping, investigators have also applied charges related to the deletion of electronic data and illegal access to the LIMS system. The suspects face multiple articles carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Asep declined to detail the specific role of each suspect, saying the investigation remains at an early stage. “This is an initial process. It is impossible for us to explain and uncover everything within 24 hours,” he said.

Listyo Sigit Prabowo’s position as a suspect marks a remarkable reversal for a figure who until recently stood at the apex of Indonesia’s security apparatus. He served as National Police chief from 2021 until his appointment as Head of the Presidential Staff Office, a role that placed him at the center of Prabowo’s administration.

The case has also ensnared Ahrie Sonta, described in reports as Listyo’s former personal secretary. The involvement of such senior figures, a former police chief now serving the President directly, a legal division head, and a senior training officer—raises sensitive questions about internal command and oversight within the police institution.

The wiretapping of the President’s phone, if confirmed, represents an extraordinary breach at the highest level of state security. The alleged targeting of political figures, media, and businesspeople in addition to the President suggests a broader surveillance operation whose purpose has not been disclosed.[]
