Al Khalil, MINA – The Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil is set to reopen its doors to worshippers on Friday for dawn prayers, ending a six-day closure imposed by Israeli forces amid heightened security tensions, PIC reports.

According to a statement from the mosque’s administration, the Israeli occupation forces communicated the decision on Thursday, allowing limited access to the site. However, existing restrictions on entry and worship will remain strictly in place.

The closure, which prevented Palestinians from accessing one of their most significant religious landmarks, drew widespread condemnation and frustration, particularly as it coincided with the holy month of Ramadan. Israeli authorities had cited “current security conditions” and “escalating security tensions in the area” as justification for the lockdown.

The Ibrahimi Mosque, revered by both Muslims and Jews (who refer to it as the Cave of the Patriarchs), has long been a flashpoint in the region. It is frequently subjected to military measures and strict access limitations imposed by Israeli forces, especially during periods of heightened tension in the occupied West Bank.[]
