HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION SOEKARNO CARE TO SEND ENVOY HELP SYRIAN REFUGEES

Jakarta, 19 Rabiul Akhir 1435/19 February 2014 (MINA) – Indonesian Humanitarian organization Soekarno Care will send a fact finding envoy to Lebanon find information about the urgent needs of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and examine how to help them. The envoy of this organization will visit Lebanon on February 21, 2014.

“Syrian refugees registered by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lebanon as the worst precedent have ever recorded in human history”, Chairman of the humanitarian organizations Soekano Care, Mocahammad told Miraj Islamic News Agency (MINA), in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Mocahammad asserted that Indonesia as a nation which has a principle of noble human values embodied in both the spirit of the struggle for independence as well as in the state constitution which is also reflected in the attitudes of the nation since the  independence until today, who continue to voice the struggle to help the people of the world who suffer from conflict, injustice and suppression.

The first President,  Sukarno (1945-1965), who at the same time as one of the founders of the Republic of Indonesia continue to voice of justice, humanity and concern as Indonesia policy measures outside the country that caused Sukarno name never disappeared from the memory of the nations of the world including Arab nations.

He said that the name of this organization is solely inspired by the spirit and movement of humanity committed by President Sukarno in the international community. The humanitarian organization is not organizationally linked with organizations or foundations or community or family of President Soekarno, but as a purely independent organization set up to help the refugees who for the moment is focused on the areas with the most severe conditions of refugees. This organization was established to help the Syrian people regardless of religion, ethnicity, race, sect or any political orientation.

Since March 2011 there conflicts that caused many people of Syria gradually displaced from their homes to other places in Syria that they consider safer. Due to the increasingly widespread armed conflict between the Syrian army and opposition forces, then mass evacuation to the countries bordering these countries is inevitable.

Up to now the United Nations refugees agency recorded more than 2.3 million refugees from Syria spread to countries such as Iraq, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon. More than one million of them fled to Iraq, Turkey and Jordan, while the number of refugees under UNHCR-registered refugees in Lebanon reached approximately 800 thousand refugees, and about 54 thousand of them in the process of waiting for registration (UNHCR notes as of December 26, 2013 ).

The Lebanese government estimated the number of refugees in Lebanon actually reach 1 million people. The composition of the refugees consisted of 49% men and 51% women. (L/P015/P09/P04/E01).
