Gaza, MINA – Hamas said it would accept the presence of international forces in Gaza only if their mandate is limited to monitoring and guaranteeing a ceasefire, while rejecting any involvement in the territory’s internal governance.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said the group would support a force tasked with overseeing a truce agreement and helping establish a buffer against Israeli attacks to protect Palestinian civilians.
“Our position on international forces is clear,” Qassem was quoted as saying by the Al-Quds daily. “We want peacekeeping forces that monitor and guarantee the ceasefire and do not interfere in Gaza’s internal affairs.”
He stressed that Hamas opposes any foreign intervention in Gaza’s administrative or political matters.

Qassem also voiced support for training Palestinian police forces within a purely national framework to ensure internal security and counter efforts by Israel occupation to destabilize society.
He added that any dialogue about Gaza’s future must begin with a comprehensive and permanent end to Israeli military operations.
The statement followed an expanded Board of Peace meeting in Washington that focused on funding for Gaza’s reconstruction. The gathering reportedly included a presentation outlining a future vision for Gaza using artificial intelligence, depicting the territory as a modern urban hub with skyscrapers and advanced infrastructure.
According to the presentation, the plan aims to transform Gaza into an independent, secure and interconnected region, ensuring stable living conditions free from repeated war damage.
