Hamas Leader Meets Mahathir in Putrajaya

Putra Jaya, MINA – Palestinian Islamic Resistance, Hamas delegation led by Head of the Political Bureau Ismail Haniyah on Wednesday met with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad at his office in Putrajaya, the capital of government administration, discussing various issues related to Palestinian.

Palestinian Cultural Organization Director in Malaysia Muslim Amran told Palestinian Information Center (PIC), Haniyah and his delegation also would hold a different meeting with ministers and officials of Malaysian political parties and civil society organizations during their stay in Malaysia.

According to Amran, Haniyah told the Malaysian Prime Minister about the latest developments in Palestinian territories and the challenges facing by Palestinian people, especially Jerusalem and its sacred sites and Israeli settlement activities in the occupied territories.

Haniyah also highlighted the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the suffering of its inhabitants as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade and aggression.

He stressed the importance of confronting Israeli practices and plans and praised the Malaysian leadership for its great role in supporting Palestinian people and their national rights.

Meanwhile, Mahathir reiterated his country’s unwavering support for Palestinian and it was just national goals, and his rejection of any political project that did not fulfill their legitimate aspirations and rights.

On the same day, Haniyah also met with Sheikh Abdul-Hadi Awang, Head of the Malaysian Islamic Movement (PAS), and other officials from the party. (T/RE1)
