Gaza, MINA – The Hamas Movement condemned the burning of a mosque by extremist Jewish settlers in the town of Duma, southeast of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, describing the incident as a serious crime and a direct attack on Islamic holy sites, according to the Palestinian Information Center.
In a press statement on Thursday, the Movement said that “extremist settler gangs” set fire at dawn to the Mohammad Fayyad Mosque in the town and spray-painted racist and inciting slogans on its walls. Hamas described the act as a “cowardly criminal act and a blatant disregard for the sanctity of houses of worship, the holy month of Ramadan, and the feelings of Muslims.”
The Movement added that the attack reflects what it called a mentality of extremism and violence encouraged by the Israeli government. It said the incident comes within what it described as a broader religious campaign targeting Islamic identity and holy sites, particularly mosque/">Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and the mosque/">Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil (Hebron).
Hamas also said that the escalating settler attacks across the West Bank, including the burning of mosques and assaults on Palestinian property, will not deter Palestinians from remaining on their land and defending their holy places.

The Movement called on Palestinians in the West Bank to confront settler attacks and urged increased popular mobilization, as well as the formation of community protection committees to safeguard mosques, homes, and property in Palestinian towns and villages.[]
