Ramallah, 9 Rabi’ul Awwal 1436/31 December 2014 (MINA) – Dozens of Gazan university students who study outside the Strip were allowed to travel to Jordan via the West Bank on Tuesday, a Palestinian official said.

Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheikh said in statement that 38 Palestinian university students passed through Erez crossing to Israel before entering the West Bank and crossing into Jordan via the Allenby Bridge crossing, Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

COGAT, the Israeli defense ministry unit in charge of civil administration in the West Bank, confirmed in a statement that the students had been allowed to pass through.

The coordination was approved after the students were denied entry to Egypt through the regularly-closed Rafah crossing with Gaza, the COGAT statement said.

Israel maintains a tight blockade on Gaza that severely limits the movement of people and goods in and out of the Strip. (T/P006/R03)
