Gaza, MINA – Health authorities in the Gaza Strip have warned that hospital services are on the verge of collapse due to severe shortages of fuel and spare parts needed to operate electricity generators, according to PIC.
During a press conference on Sunday, officials from the Health Ministry reported that 90 generators are completely out of service, while 38 others are running on limited fuel supplies and 11 require urgent maintenance.
Hospitals in Gaza remain heavily dependent on generators amid ongoing power outages. The ministry warned that a total shutdown would critically affect essential departments, including intensive care units, neonatal wards, and dialysis units, putting patients’ lives at immediate risk.
Authorities also highlighted that unstable electricity supply and voltage fluctuations are causing damage to sensitive medical equipment and leading to the spoilage of medicines, vaccines, and stored blood units.

“Surgical procedures are now limited to emergency cases only,” the ministry said, citing declining operational capacity that is delaying critical treatments and worsening patient conditions.
The Health Ministry has urgently called on humanitarian and international health organizations to intervene and provide the necessary fuel and spare parts to keep hospital generators running.[]
