EU OFFERS € 20,800,000 EUROPE’S CONTRIBUTION TO PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

        Brussels, 11 Rabiul Akhir 1434 H/21 February 2013 (MINA) – The European Union on Wednesday, contributing around 20.8 million euros for the payment of salaries and pensions for the month of January, almost 83,500 Palestinian civil servants and pensioners in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
        The European Union has agreed to allocate $ 60 million € to support the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, at the request of Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to cover government spending that is repeated at the beginning of the year, according irarab.com reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Thursday.

       This is the behavior of the majority of EU assistance to the Palestinian Authority through Pegase, the financial mechanism launched in 2008 to support Palestinian reform and development plan for the period (2008-2010) and the subsequent plan ‘Palestinian National Plan’ for the period 2011-2013, in addition to helping Palestinian authority in coverage is an important part of the running costs, European funds support the program of reform and development, especially in the key ministries and assist the Palestinian Authority in preparation for the state in accordance with the plan proposed in August 2009 by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
