Ramallah, 12 Ramadhan 1435/10 Juli 2014 (MINA) – Member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, described Wednesday the ongoing Israeli occupation offensive against Gaza as an “all-out, systematic war against the national project and national reconciliation.”

He said the government of Israeli occupation PM Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to separate Gaza from the “national project” and the state of Palestine.

“We assure that this plan is previously prepared, but the Palestinian leadership will make this plan a failure, he said.

“Our response to the Israeli cupation occampaign will be through our unity and through our united positions,” WAFA Palestinian News & Info Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Meanwhile, President Mahmoud Abbas said late night Tuesday that the Palestinian leadership will go to all international organizations to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.

“It’s high time for the international community, particularly the Quartet and the United Nation’s Security Council, to uphold their responsibilities and provide protection to our people,” said Abbas during a televised statement made to the Palestinian people late Tuesday night.

“These massacres against us have not ceased throughout the years of occupation,” he added.

“Since the formation of the national consensus government, welcomed by the international community, the Israeli government strongly escalated its rhetoric against the Palestinian leadership, despite the fact that, with this decision, we chose the path of unity and sought peace with Israel,” said Abbas.

He said “ending the division and achieving [national] reconciliation are not in contrary with peace if there was an Israeli partner.”

Abbas warned that the Israeli government is attempting to “drag things to the circle of violence,” stressing that all the parties he has been in contact with, including Hamas and other Palestinian factions, are against further escalation and are with the continuation of truce.”(T/P02/E01)
