Jeddah, MINA – Foreign ministers from eight Arab and Islamic nations have issued a joint statement declaring their participation in the Gaza Peace Board, following an invitation from United States President Donald Trump.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Türkiye, Pakistan, and Indonesia formally accepting the invitation.
According to reports, US Special Envoy Steve Wittkopf indicated that around 20 world leaders have received invitations, while several European nations have expressed refusal.
The ministers stated that the board’s mission is to “establish a permanent ceasefire, support the reconstruction of Gaza, and encourage the achievement of a just and lasting peace” based on Palestinian self-determination and statehood under international law.

Turkish sources confirmed that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will represent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the board. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry expressed hope for “concrete steps to implement a permanent ceasefire, enhance aid, and rebuild Gaza.”
This development coincides with reports that Azerbaijan and Israel have also accepted invitations, joining Belarus, Bahrain, and Morocco. In contrast, several European countries, including Sweden, Norway, France, Italy, and Germany, have declined participation. Germany cited concerns that the board could “weaken the United Nations.”
The formation of the board follows a UN Security Council resolution in mid-November endorsing its establishment and authorizing the formation of an international stabilization force for Gaza. []
