Cairo, MINA – Egypt and Turkey signed a military cooperation agreement in Cairo on Wednesday in the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Anadolu Agency reported.
The signing followed talks between the two leaders in the Egyptian capital, during which several cooperation agreements were concluded. The most prominent among them was described as a “framework military agreement” between the two governments.
The agreement was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Abdel Meguid Saqr, and Turkey’s Minister of Defence, Yaşar Güler.
Earlier in the day, Sisi and Erdogan co-chaired the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Egypt and Turkey. At the conclusion of the meeting, the two presidents signed a joint statement.

Erdogan was received by Sisi at the Presidential Palace in Cairo, where a formal welcoming ceremony was held, including the playing of both national anthems and a guard of honour. The two leaders then held an official meeting to discuss ways to enhance cooperation across areas of mutual interest and to exchange views on regional and international developments.[]
