CHINESE FM STRESSES COMMITMENT TO OBJECTIVE, FAIR STAND ON SYRIA

        Beijing, 26 Rabiul Awwal 1434/7 Febuary 2013 (MINA) – Chinese Foreign Minister, Yang Jiechi, stressed China’s commitment to an objective, fair and responsible stand for solving the crisis in Syria.

       Meeting Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad in Beijing on Wednesday, Jiechi expressed hope that Syria would come out of the crisis and restore stability as soon as possible.

       Jiechi said that China realizes the challenges facing Syria, adding that it will push ahead with its efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis there.

       He also indicated that China is interested in the views of the Syrian side and communications via diplomatic channels, according to Syrian news agency (SANA) report monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Thursday.

       For his part, Dr. Mikdad expressed Syria’s appreciation for China’s efforts on the regional and international levels for solving the crisis, lauding China’s firm stances at international forums which seek to resolve challenges through full respect to the UN Charter and the international law, especially non-interference in the internal affairs of states and combating terrorism.

       He also reviewed the political program for solving the crisis and the steps undertaken by the Syrian government to implement it. (T/P014/E1)
