Bodies’ Victims of Lion Air JT610 are Incomplete

Jakarta, MINA – Head of Installation of Forensic Medicine at the National Police Hospital Raden Said Sukanto, Edi Purnomo said that all the bodies of victims of the crash of the Lion Air JT610 arrived at the National Police Hospital are not complete.

For information, until Monday (10/30), at 11:30 p.m., there were 24 body bags containing victims of the crash of Lion Air sent to the National Police Hospital. “the bodies are not completed,” said Edi, stated by Antara News.

According to him, the physical condition of the victim did not allow for fingerprint checks by a team of the Indonesian Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis).

“If the conditions are difficult to identify, DNA inspection will be carried out later,” said Edi.

However, to increasingly recognize the victim, a detailed examination will be carried out starting Tuesday (10/30) morning. The National Police also hopes that the inherent characteristics of victims such as gender, whether adult or children, types of hair and special signs such as tattoos or scars can be found.

In this case, the matching victim data before dying (antemortem) and after (postmortem) can be easier to do.

“Hopefully there are findings that can be used for identification. Later, there will be 14 teams checking the victim, with one team consisting of five to six doctors,” said Edi.

Head of the National Police Hospital Raden Said Sukanto who is also part of the National Police Disaster Victim Investigation Team (DVI) Dr. Musyafak said that the bodies of victims of the Lion Air JT610 plane crash would be immediately handed over to the family if they have been identified.

Previously, the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft with JT610 flight number belonged to the operator Lion Air flies from Soekarno Hatta Airport, Banten to Depati Airport Amir in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung lost contact on Monday, October 29, at around 06.33 AM.

The aircraft with the PK-LQP registration number was reportedly last caught by radar on coordinates 05 46.15 S – 107 07.16 E. This aircraft departs at 06.10 AM and is suitable the schedule will arrive in Pangkal Pinang at 07.10 AM. The plane had requested to return to the original departure point or “return to base” before finally disappearing from the radar.
