Jakarta, MINA – The Chairman of the Presidium of Aqsa Working Group (AWG) Muhammad Anshorullah, stated that there is no opportunity whatsoever for Palestine within the Board of Peace (BoP) designed by US President Donald Trump.

He emphasized this during an AWG webinar titled “Board of Peace and Indonesia’s Dilemma Between World Reality and Loyalty Pledge to Palestine” on Sunday evening.

“There is not the slightest chance in this BoP for the realization of a Two-State Solution, let alone a One-State Solution,” stressed Anshorullah.

He urged the Indonesian government to be cautious in positioning itself within the BoP. It is known that President Prabowo Subianto has decided to join, making Indonesia an official member.

“Do not let Indonesia become part of these absurdities,” he said.

Anshorullah stated that reality clearly shows international institutions are incapable of stopping the colonization in Palestine.

He expressed skepticism towards the UN Security Council because the US always uses its veto to defend Israel, and even more so towards the BoP, which he believes follows a similar pattern.

“However, this does not mean we should stop discussing our idealism, how international institutions should ideally play their role,” he said.

Anshorullah refuted claims that the BoP is a product of the UN Security Council.

“The BoP is highly problematic and absurd. If it is said to be a product of the UN Security Council, note that the BoP Charter does not mention the UN at all. While the UNSC resolution was issued specifically for resolving Gaza and Palestine, the BoP does not mention Gaza and Palestine at all,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian government views participation in the BoP as a strategic step in supporting the Palestinian struggle.

“For Indonesia, participation in the Board of Peace holds strategic meaning. This involvement is intended to ensure the Gaza transition process continues moving towards a two-state solution and does not develop into a permanent arrangement that ignores the rights of the Palestinian people,” as quoted from the official website of the Indonesian Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.

According to President Prabowo, Indonesia’s involvement in the BoP could be an opportunity for peace in Gaza.

“I think this is a historic opportunity, a real chance to achieve peace in Gaza. Clearly, the suffering of the Gazan people has decreased, significantly decreased. Humanitarian aid is flowing in, abundantly, it has entered. I truly hope, and Indonesia is ready to participate,” Prabowo said on January 22, 2026, according to the official website of the Indonesian State Secretariat.[]
