Jakarta, MINA – The Aqsa Working Group (AWG) movement organization has strongly condemned the policy imposed by Israel banning 37 international humanitarian aid organizations from operating in Gaza, assessing this measure as a humanitarian crime that worsens the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

AWG considers Israel’s step of banning international humanitarian aid organizations in Gaza as a form of using civilian suffering as a tool of war and a violation of international humanitarian law.

In a statement of position received by MINA in Jakarta on Sunday, AWG Presidium Chairman Muhammad Anshorullah stated that the ban obstructs medical services, food, clean water, and protection for civilians in desperate need of aid. Anshorullah assessed the ban as a violation of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.

He also stated that the international community has failed to impose strict sanctions against this policy, thereby prolonging the suffering of the Palestinian people living under a prolonged blockade and aggression.

According to AWG, Israel’s action allows for the systematic production of a humanitarian crisis, impacting millions of civilians in Gaza.

Citing Anadolu, Israel stated that the ban on the 37 international humanitarian aid organizations in Gaza is based on new registration rules and security requirements, including the obligation for organizations to submit detailed staff and financial data. Israel claims the step aims to prevent aid from being misused by Palestinian resistance groups.

Israeli authorities also assert that most aid will continue to flow through organizations that comply with the new rules, so the impact on the total aid volume is claimed to be minimal according to the government.

However, international humanitarian groups reject this argument, assessing the regulation as overly burdensome and hindering direct access to aid for civilians.

Various international organizations and the UN have also reacted to the policy of banning international humanitarian aid organizations in Gaza. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has openly asked Israel to revoke the ban, stating that humanitarian organizations play a crucial role in saving lives in Gaza and restricting access could worsen the already fragile crisis.

Meanwhile, dozens of other international organizations warn that cutting off access to these institutions could halt a large portion of essential aid such as food, clean water, and health services, as they provide a major share of humanitarian operations in the region.

Israel’s policy of banning international humanitarian aid organizations in Gaza comes amid a worsening humanitarian situation in the area. Independent reports indicate that many aid shipments have been denied since the ceasefire, including hundreds of requests for the entry of basic supplies such as blankets, clean water equipment, and medical supplies.[]
