ANTI-ISLAM FLYERS IN UK RAPPED AS TRASH

London, 20 Jumadil AKhir/29 April 2013 (MINA) – British far-right activists Tony Bamber has been lambasted for distributing Islamophobic leaflets that call for a campaign to blame Muslims for the “heroin trade” in Britain.

“This is full of loathing and hatred towards a religious group,” Leyland Central councillor, Caleb Tomlinson, told Lancashire Evening.

Bamber, who is a member of the far-right British National Party (BNP), was taken to court in 2010 over distributing of leaflets that preached anti-Muslim hatred but was cleared by judges.

According to Press TV reports quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), he is now running as a BNP candidate for Lancashire County Council elections planned for next month.

His new leaflets were also condemned by Labour local councilor Derek Forrest who described the move as “racist trash” that needs to be treated with “the contempt it deserves”.

This comes as the police have refused to take action against the move citing the 2010 case that was rejected by in the court.

“An individual was charged and sent to crown court, however, after consideration, the court found that the content of the leaflets did not constitute an offence,” a police spokesman said.

“As such no crime is being committed in the distribution of these leaflets,” he added.(T/P05/E1)
