Banda Aceh, MINA – The Chairman of the Aceh Ulema Consultative Council (MPU), Tgk H. Faisal Ali has called on all institutions involved in humanitarian efforts in Aceh to respect and adapt to local wisdom, particularly in implementing trauma healing programs for disaster victims.
Speaking on Friday, Faisal emphasized that psychological recovery for the community would be more effective if approached in ways aligned with Aceh’s local cultural values and traditions. He stressed that all parties should place humanitarian aspects as their primary goal in every aid activity.
Furthermore, Tgk Faisal reminded humanitarian organizations, especially those from outside the region, not to insert specific religious missions during disaster relief efforts. He requested that the use of language, songs, or symbols affiliated with religions other than Islam be avoided during the victim assistance process.
Nevertheless, the MPU Aceh expressed appreciation and gratitude for the concern and assistance provided by various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to the disaster-affected people of Aceh.[]
