Abdullah Bin Zayed Offers His Condolences to FM Retno on the Death of Her Father

Abu Dhabi, 29 Muharram 1438/30 October 2016 (MINA) – Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has offered his condolences to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, on the death of her father.

In a phone call on Saturday, Sheikh Abdullah extended his deepest sympathies to the Indonesia’s FM on the death of her father.

The death of Moch Sidik, father of Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, on Thursday, has forced her to cancel bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Retno was scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the IORA secretary general and counterparts from several countries here on Thursday, on the sidelines of the IORA conference. But her bilateral meetings had to be cancelled due to the obituary.

Retno had planned to hold a banquet with the delegates from India, Comoros, Bangladesh, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Somalia.

However, the ministerial level meeting of IORA on Thursday will still proceed and will be chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Abdurrahman M. Fachir instead of Retno. (T/R07/R01)
