Leeds, MINA – Leeds United hosted Manchester City at Elland Road in Week 28 of the 2025/2026 Premier League on Saturday.

This match held significant significance for both teams, each with different interests. Manchester City came with high ambitions to continue pressuring the league leaders, while Leeds United sought to avoid the threat of relegation.

The first half was immediately intense, with the home team immediately posing a threat, but their execution was lacking.

In the 13th minute, the referee halted play for a moment to allow Muslim players to break their fast on the sidelines.

A minute later, play resumed.

The Whites’ tight defense in midfield made it difficult for the Citizens to attack. It wasn’t until the 30th minute that Manchester City forced the home team to defend in the penalty area.

The changing landscape of the match continued, with the visitors repeatedly pressing. Leeds refused to be defeated.

A crucial moment occurred in the 40th minute, when Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow (26) made a brilliant save. He palmed a close-range header from a City player out of the air. Darlow denied the Citizens their best chance of the first half.

However, in the 45+2 minute, the visitors’ attack paid off. Rayan Ait-Nouri (21), dribbling on the right side of the Leeds defense, delivered a well-measured cross that passed between the goalkeeper and the opposing defender.

Antoine Semenyo (42) arrived just in time to tap the ball in front of goal. The Ghanaian player successfully converted his Algerian teammate’s pass into the net.

The score was instantly changed to 0-1 in favor of Manchester City at halftime. []
