President Donald Trump has made trade central to his presidency, roiling markets and upsetting fellow Republicans by threatening to impose steep tariffs and scrap trade deals he says have undermined US workers and industry.

Trump poll shows record low approval ratings.

Washington, 30 Jumadil Awwal 1438/27 February 2017 (MINA) – US President Donald Trump’s approval rating currently stands at 44 percent – a “record low for a newly inaugurated commander-in-chief,” according to a new poll conducted by NBC News and Wall Street Journal.

Results published Sunday showed that 48 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s leadership, and 32 percent think his first month in office “demonstrates that he is not up to the job.”

NBC News noted that the real estate mogul is also “the only president in the history of modern polling to begin his first term with a net negative approval rating” at minus Four percent.

All three of his predecessors – Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton – began their presidencies with net positives around at least 30 percent.

The poll was conducted last week using 1,000 respondents. (T/RS05/RS01)
