Eight Indonesian Exporters explore Philippine market

Manila, 25 Shaban 1437/1 June 2016 (MINA) – As many as eight Indonesian food and beverage manufacturers are exploring Philippine market in the international exhibition of food and drinks, SIAL (Salon International de l Agroalimentaire) ASEAN which is running on May 31 to June 2, 2016.

They are facilitated by Indonesian government to increase the number of Indonesian exports. “We took it to become a global market player, not only in domestic market,” said the President Director of PT Sekawan Karsa Mulia, Siem Dwiatmoko Setiono in Manila, on Tuesday. Antara reported.

On the sidelines of the event, he said that as a manufacturer of butter and cocoa powder, he did not want to just be a champion in domestic market products, but it can expand to neighbouring countries market.

“Indonesia chocolate products is quite competitive, since the raw material is from domestic, only sugar is imported,” said Dwiatmoko while greeting visitors who come to his outlets and offering them a cold chocolate drink.

He optimistic that Indonesian food and beverage products have great opportunities in international markets, particularly  in Philippines. Moreover, according to him, the food and beverage products from China which is remains the main competitor being decreased.

The same statement was also stated by the Manager of Export-Import PT Niramas Utama, Effendi Taruna. He said his participation in the exhibition to expand market scope, especially in Philippines.

According to him, Philippine market is potential for manufactured products. “The price of our products is acceptable and competable,” said Effendi.

Besides the two companies, the six Indonesian companies that involving Philippine market are the manufacture of noodles, cooking oil and margarine, as well as manufacturers of snacks. (LP/ R03/R04)
