Russia Supports Palestinian Independence Through “Two-State Solution”
Jakarta, 27 Jumadil Awwal 1437 | 6 Maret 2016 (MINA) – Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Mikhail Galuzin said that his country supports the independence and peace in Palestine through a two-state solution.
“We believe that the solution to the Palestinian problem can be achieved through comprehensive solutions and long-term effect, namely a two-state solution between the Palestinians and Israel,” said Galuzin in an exclusive interview with Antara, Sunday.
In the 5th Extraordinary Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jakarta, on March 6 to 7, Ambassador Galuzin represented Russia as an OIC observer countries, permanent members of the UN Security Council and members of the Quartet group of Palestinian-Israeli Negotiations.
Related to the absence Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ambassador Galuzin said regretfully that his country’s president cannot attend because of the planned agenda.
“We are very grateful for the invitation of Indonesian, and I will do my best to represent Russia in a very important meeting to discuss a solution for the Palestinian issue,” he said.
Russia is one of 137 countries that have recognized the independence of Palestine and has had diplomatic relations with Palestine.
“Russia recognized the Palestinian government and the Palestinian Embassy in Moscow is already there,” the Ambassador said galuzin.
The event which themed on Palestine and Al Quds (Jerusalem) will produce two documents, namely OIC Resolutions on Palestine and Al Quds as well as the Jakarta Declaration on the reaffirmation of the OIC stance support to Palestinian independence.
Indonesia hosts the OIC Summit and attended by 47 countries from the 56 OIC member countries, two observer countries and five representatives of member states of the UN Permanent Security Council, as well as the UN special envoy in the Palestinian-Israeli Negotiations Quartet. (L/P008/R03)
