Baghdad, 21 Shawwal 1435/17 August 2014 (MINA) – A political analyst says terrorist attacks by the ISIL Takfiri militants in Iraq have paved the way for the US to get back to the Arab country, Press TV reports.

In an interviews with Press TV on Saturday, Sabah Jawad said the escalated violence in Iraq, which started with the fall of Mosul in the hands of the ISIL terrorists earlier this year, has been benefiting the US.

“As a result of what’s happening in Mosul they used the opportunity to get back to Iraq. Now they are bombarding some part of north of Iraq,” he said, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Sunday.

The analyst added that the US presence in Iraq would undermine the democratic trend in the conflict-stricken country. “Their (the Americans) presence in Iraq is detrimental to democratic achievement if we want to achieve democratic rights in Iraq,” he said.

The crisis in Iraq escalated after the ISIL terrorists took control of Mosul on June 10, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the capital Baghdad. Tikrit was later taken back by Iraqi armed forces.

The ISIL has vowed to continue its raid towards the capital, Baghdad.

Soldiers of the Iraqi army have been engaged in heavy fighting with the militants in different fronts and have so far been able to push them back in several areas.

The US military has also attacked the ISIL militants inside Iraq after earlier this month US President Barack Obama authorized aerial attacks against the terrorist group’s targets in Iraq. (T/E01/IR)
