THOUSANDS INDONESIAN STUDENTS HOLD FUND RAISING FOR GAZA
Bandar Lampung, 18 Ramadan 1435/16 July, 2014 (MINA) – Thousands of Indonesian students in Lampung, Sumatera island, held a long march and fundraising rally for Palestine started from At-Taqwa mosque in Tanjung Karang to Adipura Monument, Bandar Lampung, Tuesday.
The coordinator of the event Ikhwanuddin said it was a solidarity action initiated by Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah).
“We are collaborating with madrasah of Al-Fatah, Aqsa Working Group (AWG), and Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) to show our solidarity to Palestinians who suffers by Zionist strikes right now,” Ikhwanuddin said.
In the event, they demonstrated theatrical action, reading poetry for Palestinian and reading open letter to U.S. President, Barrack Obama.
Hafidzhah (17 years old) a female student from TahfidzAl- Qur’an Institute, Lampung asked Obama to care and open his eyes to the suffering of Palestinians. Meanwhile, the theatrical action described condition of Arab countries that could not deal yet in supporting Palestine.
Dade Novirzal, the chairman of al Fatah Lampung in his speech reminded that Indonesians could not be separated from Palestinians due to the brotherhood.
“We cannot forget, Palestine was the first country who recognized Indonesian independence from occupation,” said Novirzal.
Rustam Efendi, representation of Aqsa Working Group (AWG) asked for Indonesian society to participate actively by raising funds to help Palestinians.
“There are many ways we can do to help our brothers in Palestine, both with prayers and donations,” he said.
Meanwhile, the activist and journalist of Mi’raj Islamic news agency (MINA), Nurhadis, in his speech urged Indonesian government to support Palestine.
“Jewish community in Indonesia have to leave from this country because it opposed to Indonesian Constitution which opposing colonialism all over the world,” said Hadis.(L/B01/P03/Syt/P04)
