INDONESIAN MAID BACKS AFTER 15 YEARS WORKING IN GAZA
Gaza, 19 Sha’ban 1435/17 Juni, 2014 (MINA) – Ika Subayka binti Jayadi, a female labor from Cianjur, West Java, finally backed to Indonesia after fifteen years working as a maid in Nusairat district, Gaza Strip.
Ika was picked up by the Secretary of of the Republic Indonesia Embassyfor Egypt, Puji Basuki and a staff, Joko Sumaryono. Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s correspondent Nur Ikhwan Abadi reported from Gaza.
Ika entered to Gaza in 1999. Shemet her employer in Saudi Arabia, she followed her boss to the central Gaza. Ika entered Gaza through Erez border, north of the Gaza, about 1.6 milesfrom the hospital of Indonesia.
Ika’s desire to go back to her hometown, Indonesia has been emerging for several years ago, but it was constrained by validity period of her passport that has expired.No one could help her to manage the passport. According Ika, she was ever cheated and suffered financial loss around $ 3000 dollarswhen someonewas pretending to help her.
The 45-year-old woman met Indonesian volunteers who build an Indonesia hospital in Gaza. With the help of volunteers connecting her to Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. Then, the authorities is willing to help repatriate her to Indonesia.
Basuki said he has been attempting to pick up Ikasince a month ago, buthe got the permission just now. “Wealso coordinated with Indonesian Embassy in Amman,” he said.
Ika cried when she received her new passport fromthe Embassy. I have been waiting it long time ago,” she said.
Her boss, Umm Abdallah said: “Subaikah is like my own family. She took care me and gave me medicians. I believe her well even Igave a number ofjewelry to her”.
Ika will be in Cairo for two days. She will be back to Indonesia afterall things running well. After that Ika will live with her family in Indonesia. (L/P04 /P03)
