PALESTINE POISED FOR FIRST MEDIA CONFERENCE

         Gaza City, 22 Shafar 1435/25 December 2013 (MINA) – Government Media Office (GMO) is putting the finishing touches to the preparations for the first media conference titled “Palestinian Media.. Meeting Resistance Challenges” to be held in Commodore Hotel in late December, said Salamah Marouf, Director-General of GMO.

          Marouf, a chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Conference, told ALRAY in a statement that “25 journalists from inside and outside the occupied Palestinian territories have already submitted research papers to participate in the conference.”

          He pointed out that the research papers presented by West Bank citizens are for Fouad Khuffash, Director of Ahrar Center for Prisoners Studies, Fareed Abu Dhuhair, Media Professor at University of Al-Najah and media expert Abdel-Salam Al-Hurtani, ALRAY Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

          While the participants from the Arab countries are Azzam al-Tamimi, Head of the Al-Hiwar TV Channel, Egyptian writer Mohammed Jamal, and Director of Tunisia News Network (TNN) Jamal al-Dallali.

         He explained that the conference would address four angels: Palestinian Media and National Issues with nine papers, Laws and Ethics of Journalism with four papers, Media Reality and Organizations with 6 papers, and Media and Communication Developments with five papers.

         The conference events shall be permeated with giving prizes to the winners of Best Media Entries Competition, including print, electronic and broadcast entries, and addition to a photo exhibition showcasing works of 13 photojournalists.

          He noted that it would include displaying a film titled “Candles in the Darkness of Aggression” which features the struggling efforts of Palestinian journalists and the violations the Israeli occupation carries out against them in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem. (T/P02/E1)
